While the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump is sold as part of a great package, there are some additional items you may want to invest in as well.  This product does include a battery pack, ideal for the times you need to pump and can’t find an outlet.  This battery pack does drain batteries pretty quickly, so if you are pumping in a car there is a Medela Pump In Style 9 Volt Vehicle Lighter Adapter you can purchase to save on batteries.  Extra pumping parts are also a must.  Between constantly washing the pieces, sometimes forgetting them one occasionally breaking due to constant use, I always kept a minimum of one extra set on hand.  I recommend having extra membranes because these are easily lost down a drain or ripped when pulled off the pump a little too roughly, as well as Medela breast pump accessories.  If you plan to store any breast milk in your freezer, you will need to purchase breastmilk bags.  I find the Medela ones and the Lansinoh ones to work very well.
