I put a lot of effort into finding the best high chair (and that turned out to be the Graco DuoDiner). Unlike some baby products that you only use for a couple of months and then store away for the next one or pass on to a friend, I knew that my daughter would be using it for years to come.
When I first began looking for one, my daughter was not on solid foods yet, and really didn’t need it for meal time. I was interested in using it for play time. My friend had a booster that she loved for this exact purpose, so I decided we needed one too.
High Chair/Booster Seat:
Not every high chair converts from a high chair to a booster seat. We chose the Graco DuoDiner Highchair because the chair part could easily be removed from the unit and strapped to a kitchen chair, or even placed on the floor if no other chairs were available. Friends of mine did not find this option before purchasing their high chair and then had the added expense of purchasing a separate booster seat.
Removing the seat from the base of the Graco DuoDiner high chair is a cinch. There are two buttons on the side (it’s definitely a two-handed process, but will only take a few seconds) to push on and then pull up. On the bottom of the chair you will notice straps that are tucked away inside a plastic holder. Remove the straps, tie them around the chair and voila, instant booster seat. Truth be told, this feature was the deciding factor in choosing the Graco DuoDiner High Chair, and I have been extremely satisfied with it.
The Graco DuoDiner High Chair Be Easily Washed Down After a Mealtime Mess!
It’s a fact, infants and toddlers make quite the mess when eating. Their “I can do it myself” attitude makes for very sticky situations when mealtime is over. I knew that the high chair we purchased needed to be durable as well as easily washable. I have found that the Graco DuoDiner Highchair can be easily wiped down after meals.
After particularly messy meals (like spaghetti and meatballs), I remove the padding from the Graco DuoDiner and stick it immediately in the washing machine. I let it air-dry, which it does very quickly. The colors in the padding have not faded away, even with frequent washes.
The Graco DuoDiner tray can either be used as a stand alone, or there is an additional thinner cover that can be used on top of it. The thinner tray is dishwasher safe, but I find that if I wipe it down after every meal or snack I don’t need to put it in the dishwasher.
Immediately upon opening and assembling the Graco DuoDiner Highchair you will notice how sturdy the unit is. The base of the chair is solid; I never worry about my daughter tipping over, even when she gets a little more rambunctious than normal.
The Graco DuoDiner chair can truly take a beating. My daughter has recently discovered that she loves to slam her body against the chair. The Graco DuoDiner is still as strong and sturdy as the day I got it.
The tray is also solid. We probably put too much weight on the tray with our own arm while feeding her and it doesn’t bend or show any form of wear. It truly is a well-designed piece of baby equipment.

The Graco DuoDiner High Chair Product Review
The Graco DuoDiner Highchair was an instant hit with my family. Prior to purchasing this high chair, my daughter spent mealtimes on the floor in her infant chair. While she could see us, she could not easily be part of our mealtime conversations and would often express her discontent about being “left out”. So even though she was not ready to begin solid foods, we made the decision that it was time to upgrade her to a high chair.
The Graco DuoDiner High Chair allowed her to be part of family mealtimes. One of its many features is the ability to adjust the chairs height. We have set it at the perfect level for our table and pull her right up to its edge. She is now able to engage with us as we eat, or play with her toys without feeling like she has been banned to the pack ‘n play.
One of the most useful and convenient features about the Graco DuoDiner is the fact that it can quickly convert to a booster seat. While at home she still uses the base but when we travel, we only take the booster seat. We would have needed to purchase a separate booster to travel with, or to use at home once she advances to solely using the booster. This high chair saved us the added expense of having to purchase one.
We are using this Graco DuoDiner with our first child, and plan to continue using it with our future one as well. I liked that the padding was not gender specific in color or pattern and was not “cutesy” as some baby items are. I chose the Kinsey teal/blue/brown color combo. There is also the Graco DuoDiner Highchair – Lowery and Graco DuoDiner High Chair, Carlisle. While I wanted the high chair to look nice, I didn’t want it to be the focal point in the room. The Graco DuoDiner High Chair is available in a couple of colors and patterns.
I have been extremely satisfied with the Graco DuoDiner Highchair and would purchase it again in a heartbeat.
Current Graco DuoDiner Customer Reviews
Niks Mom, Pittsburgh, PA
After much research, we settled on this highchair…and very glad we did.
I love the removable tray insert. For extra-tough messes, just pop it off and stick it in the dishwasher.
The design is a very stylish aqua and brown theme, enhancing any decor. The wheels make it very easy to maneuver around, and the reclining seat makes feeding young infants a breeze.
The chair part comes off of the legs and becomes a booster…so the unit will last you all through your child’s early years.
The Graco DuoDiner is a great investment!
Many parents question when to begin using high chairs and when booster seats are a good option. Some wait until their child is ready to eat solid foods. Buying a separate booster seat is an additional expense that parents do not need. A duodiner high chair lets parents use the full chair, or just strap the seat to a table chair. Ensure your child’s safety by using the high chair properly.
